EFFECTIVELY Treat lymphedema

MLD therapy was developed to treat and manage lymphedema

Lymphedema is a swelling condition that causes lymph fluid retention and swelling in arms or legs. It's most often the result of breast and other cancer treatments that have included removal/damage to lymph nodes. Some people are also born with the condition. Others can develop lymphedema as a result of an injury.

MLD therapy was pioneered in Europe in the 1930s to reduce the swelling and inflammation of lymphedema, and to provide an effective way to manage this chronic disease.

How MLD helps with lymphedema:

  • Reduces/manages swelling - MLD moves lymph fluid around blocked or damaged areas in the lymphatic system to reduce swelling
  • Reduces pain -  As swelling recedes, so does the associated pain
  • Improves flexibility and mobility - When pressure and pain are relieved, arms and legs regain lost flexibility and movement

What you should know:

  • Lymphedema left untreated will progress.
  • The treatment plan often includes MLD therapy with compression therapy (CDT)
