Billing for services:  Lymphatic Massage Treatments at our clinic in Halifax Nova Scotia can be billed through your massage therapy benifits.

MLD is a light form of massage that stimulates lymphatic flow in your tissues. It is stimulating to your immune system and detoxifying to your tissues, making it an ideal therapy for injuries, general health, stress and prevention.

Your Lymphatic System is made up of many small vessels that collect lymph fluid from your tissues. It drains away many large proteins, dead cells and debris that would otherwise accumulate. This lymph fluid is pumped to your lymph nodes where it is filtered and then returned to you blood.

MLD can treat many condition such as frozen shoulder, old and new injuries, arthritis or chronic headaches. MLD is best known for the treatment of swelling conditions like lymphedema however it is also indicated for sports injuries, environmental illness, after surgery and for skin health and beauty.

How MLD works.

Everybody has had some swelling from time to time, whether this is from an injury, hormone flux or conditions such as varicose veins. When tissues are swollen they receive less nutrition from the blood because the cells are pushed away from your blood supply. MLD works by decreasing the distance between your cells and their blood supply. This increases cell nutrition and helps them to be healthy and strong.

Why Choose MLD as a therapy? If you want to clean your tissues of toxins and promote healthy and youthful cells, MLD offers a choice that is gentle, gradual, and therapeutic. It is also complementary to other modalities such as osteopathy, physiotherapy, naturopathy, or chiropractic treatments.

High standards are required for certified MLD therapists. In order to be certified through the Dr. Vodder School, a therapist must complete four intensive study programs and recertify biannually. The medical educators of the Dr. Vodder School are medical doctors, surgeons, oncologists, and radiologist with experience treating lymphatic disorders and are involved in ongoing lymphatic research.  An emphasis on good technique is instilled in the Vodder School Students throughout the program and during biannual review programs to ensure that techniques do not go astray over time. MLD is not a part of massage therapy training and is only available through the International Dr. Vodder School.
